Friends, we have established ‘Blue cross welfare foundation, Sangli’ by bringing together all the veterinarians from Sangli district in Maharashtra. We aim to work through our organization in the entire state of Maharashtra. However, initially our focus would be in Sangli, Kolhapur, Satara, Solapur and Pune districts of Western Maharashtra. Animal Husbandry and Animal Husbandry Supplementary Industries will be of paramount importance in the years to come. Recognizing this precision, all those who are working in the field of animal husbandry have come together for this noble cause. In near future animal husbandry and related byproduct industries are going to have a important role in overall development of the country. Considering this contribution of animal husbandry in the society and in GDP at national level, it is aimed to unite veterinary students and all graduate vets of Sangli district who are working in government as well as in private sector in animal husbandry field for implementation of various developmental activities and programs for farmers and their cattle.
Farmers and cattle owners in Western Maharashtra have always contributed with a dedicated spirit to keep the chariot of rural development moving through animal husbandry. About 80% of the farmers in the area have high productivity and pedigree livestock such as cows, buffaloes, goats, sheep and poultry. The supply of high nutritious food such as milk, dairy products, eggs and meat to the urban population of Maharashtra has increased significantly in recent years. And our aim is to maintain the graph in upward direction. We are aimed to provide guidance through work camps, work shops, seminars, talk shows and vaccination camps.
It is our intention to bring together farmers, resident veterinarians, students, private organizations, other charitable organizations and government agencies working in the field of animal husbandry. I would like to mention here that this organization will work for the welfare of the people as a social commitment by coordinating with the individuals and institutes.
